Welcome to Mayfly Montessori!

Located in beautiful Missoula, MT, Mayfly is a high-quality in-home classroom that embraces the Montessori Method.  Montessori is a method of education that is based on self-directed activity, hands-on learning and collaborative play. In Montessori classrooms, children make creative choices in their learning, while the classroom and the teacher offer age-appropriate activities to guide the process.

At Mayfly, we explore the outdoors daily, enjoy a healthy family-style meal program and direct frequent art projects to spark each child's imagination.

Our Class

Each school year, we enroll 12 children from ages 2-6. The mixed-age classroom is typical of the Montessori Method and allows the children to move freely between social groups. Watching the children help each other is one of the joys of a Montessori classroom.  They are able to aid each other as peers in all areas of work, such as math and phonetic reading.  It also eliminates competition among classmates because each child is at a different stage of learning.
